We are currently accepting applications for a part-time INTERNSHIP COORDINATOR to work during the academic year.
The Internship Coordinator develops and grows internships and real world experiences for students. In this role, the Coordinator directly provides student services focused in resume/interview preparation as well as job and internship search strategies. Supports the Assistant Director with internship and practicum placements, job market information, and career resources and networking. Interacts with advising faculty and staff to promote and integrate internship placements and career preparation into the culture. Document and showcase student achievement in internships and placements.
SOME ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Assist with acquiring and maintaining local and regional internship placement sites and the relationships with existing employer partners
Provide internship, career and experiential opportunity information to students and community members. Maintain and disseminate current information regarding internships and career development.
Provide internship and career development advising, counseling, and programming through scheduled appointments with individual, email/phone call to students on the pending files in the MJIL, class presentations, group programs, internships, career planning courses, outreach opportunities, resume workshops, interview techniques workshops, special events, information technology, etc.
Maintain and administer current resources to students exploring the work world (via print and electronic resources for majors, careers, internships, website resources, the Mariner Job/Internship Link, and job postings).
Support the coordination of workshops, career fairs, and additional programming as determined by the department. Coordinate the tracking, input (MJIL), and assessment of student attendance to programs and events.
Manage and maintain appropriate and complete documentation for all interns; electronic and paper files; screen applicants in the student information system (CAMS) before approving internship application.
Monitor and track the Federal Work Study (FWS) student internship paperwork; collaborate with Human Resources and Financial Aid to ensure proper processing of paperwork; input and approve FWS student intern hours in Paycom.
Collaborate with AD to create and maintain social media accounts such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
Support the AD with expanding the range of real world educational connections in and out of the classroom. Support faculty interested in incorporating client projects/real world learning into existing and new courses; including Academic Society events.
Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Marymount California University.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
M.A. in Education, Human Services, Counseling, or related field preferred. National Career Counselor Certification or MCC preferred. Must have 2-4 years of prior experience in career counseling at the University level or professional environment. Experience with employer and community relations and success in building inventory of internship employers. Demonstrated experience in growing student participation in internships. Prior experience in coordination/supervision of college interns. Must show evidence of student advocacy, productivity, and professional development.
