The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, College of Engineering seeks applicants for the position of MEng Career Services Coordinator. This position is responsible for developing relationships with industry partners, connecting professionally-oriented graduate students to industry partners for employment opportunities, and providing professional development opportunities. This position is associated with the Center for Professional and Executive Training and Education and integrated with the Engineering Career Services.
Provide professional career advising and counseling to MEng students through individual meetings and workshops on topics such as career preparation and search plans, resume reviews, mock interviews, job offers and negotiations.
Educate and provide direction to students regarding professional work opportunities and employment trends. Provide a wide variety of career information and materials.
Work with the MEng Industry Liaison Coordinators to identify internship opportunities and connect students and company recruiters.
Work with industry partners to build sustained relationships that connect MEng students to these companies for possible internships or job opportunities.
Organize and implement career events and publications for students and employers, including special industry networking events, receptions, resources, and speaker programs.
Assist with the collection of outcome placement data.
Some travel required.
Other duties as assigned.
One year of professional work experience in recruitment, HR, career services, or academic advising environment.
Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects and develop priorities.
Excellent interpersonal skills (ability to work with students and faculty from diverse background) and demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
Proficiency with computer applications, including word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and web maintenance programs.
Experience advising students in a university career services office.
Knowledge of the job market for graduate level college students and engineering disciplines.
Knowledge of career assessment tools.
Experience working with international graduate students or executives.
Strong presentation and project management skills.
