The Career & Leadership Development Center (CLDC) supports all students as they move through their initial adjustment to college, to selecting a major, to acquiring internship experience, to developing leadership skills and helping students understand the application of these skills in a lifelong career development process. The fundamental mission of the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is to provide central information and analytical support for university planning, management, and assessment activities to help Ohio University fulfill its mission. In this capacity, OIR assumes primary responsibility for analyzing and interpreting data about the performance of the university; analyzing and interpreting data about the environment of the university; transforming data into information that supports university planning, policy making, decision making, and assessment; and communicating institutional information to the University community as well as to external constituents such as the Higher Learning Commission, our regional accreditor.
Recently, Ohio University implemented a Career and Experiential Fee starting fall 2018. This position, along with several others, is a part of an institution wide strategic initiative to enhance career development for all students at the university. Career development is an essential element to Ohio University, but there are gap areas and the incumbent will serve to elevate the career development assessment infrastructure. The Assessment Specialist will have a shared responsibility (50/50) between the Career & Leadership Development Center and Institutional research (IR), with primary focus areas being: building, maintaining and overseeing a career development outcome based assessment infrastructure for Ohio University; analyzing, reporting and publishing institutional career development assessment results; tracking and reporting student career development engagement and post-graduation outcomes; designing creative solutions for collecting, managing, storing and retrieving large datasets to increase reliability and accessibility of data; and building, maintaining and overseeing institutional assessment of alumni and student mentoring
