The Career & Leadership Development Center (CLDC) is a centralized unit that supports all students as they move through their initial adjustment to college, to selecting a major, to acquiring internship experience, to developing leadership skills and helping students understand the application of these skills in a lifelong career development process.
Recently, Ohio University implemented a Career and Experiential Fee starting fall 2018. This position, along with several others, is an institution wide strategic initiative to enhance career development for all students at the university. Career development is an essential element to Ohio University, but there are gap areas and the incumbent will serve to elevate career development infrastructure in the key areas of assessment, regional campuses, online, and ensuring a comprehensive 4-year career development process is embedded across the institution. The Associate Director will serve as the institution’s lead for: developing an institution wide comprehensive strategic four year career development engagement model; overseeing, supervising, and maintaining university wide career development assessment and outcome measurements; serving as the institution’s leader in regional campuses career development; and developing and implementing a strategy for providing access to responsive career development services for students enrolled in online completion degree programs.

Master’s degree • 3 years of work experience • 1 year of supervision experience • Experience working in the career development field • Desire to support and understand the diverse experiences and needs of students and staff working at, and served by, the CLDC • Prior experience developing relationships and building and maintaining partnerships • Assessment knowledge and experience • Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive educational and workplace environment • Team oriented individual • Outstanding interpersonal skills (i.e. high personal impact) and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of high-performing individuals • Strong project management skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines • Ability to work effectively under pressure, ambiguity, and effectively prioritize goals • Established history of organization and time management skills
• Experience training other professionals • An entrepreneurial orientation, proven track record of taking initiative and making things happen (i.e. self-starter) • Superior knowledge of career paths and opportunities, and thorough understanding of the career decision-making process • Experience with database management systems
