The Associate Director of Employer Relations and Alumni Programs furthers Yeshiva University's vision to support students to become career-ready graduates. The Associate Director in conjunction with the Director of Employer and Alumni Relations, leads the strategic design, development, implementation, and evaluation of student mentorship networks, on-campus recruitment programs, industry and labor market awareness strategies, collaborative educational partnerships with alumni, employers, and organizations, and tests new models that position YU alumni and employers more deeply as co-educators and mentors. The Associate Director of Employer Relations and Alumni Programs will develop communications and outreach strategies to secure and advance initial and ongoing student and alumni participation, play an active role on the design, installation, testing and administration of the selected mentoring software platform, and develop and maintain an exceptional mentor and mentee training resource. Reporting into the Director of Employer and Alumni Relations, the Associate Director will collaborate and work closely with the staff within both Alumni Affairs and the Advancement Office. This program is also viewed as a pipeline for future internship and employment opportunities with participating alumni.
The incumbent leads the overall strategy for 1) volunteer, internship and employment opportunities coordinated through the Career Center for undergraduate, and graduate students and alumni; 2) internal and external employer relationships; 3) student mentorship and strategic connections between students and industry professionals 4) the implementation and strategic deployment of the CRM technology, and; 5) liaises with units and programs within the university to promote cooperative and collaborative communication with external employers and organizations.
Work collaboratively with the Director and the unit leadership team to foster a comprehensive and integrated approach to career development, with particular attention to the roles of employers and alumni in the process
Oversee and participate in the development of relationships with potential employers through company site visits, needs assessments, developing campus-wide programs and events, linking employers to campus programs, services, people, and partners, providing strategic targeted recruitment planning and acting as a resource for all on-campus recruitment activity
Oversee the scheduling, facilitation, and follow-up data collection from both students and employers for on-campus recruiting and interviewing
Advise students and alumni on career management
Communicate with and collect benchmarking research on peer and other institutions in terms of mentoring best practices and related trends in higher education
Work collaboratively across departments to consider broadly the ways in which alumni are engaged across all programs, events, services and experiences within both Student and Academic Affairs in order to develop a strategic plan for student-alumni engagement, strengthening these connections to enhance career learning and employment outcomes for students; effectively manage a consistent mentoring brand across internal and external distribution channels including print, email, web, and social media
Active role in working with the team and the vendor on the design, installation, testing, troubleshooting, administration, quality assurance, and documentation of the software mentoring platform, providing timely and thorough project status reports.
Develop communications and outreach strategies utilizing the employer-alumni connections already established as well as identifying new sourcing strategies for attracting students and alumni participation; strategically develops the University's ability to support YU alumni to access the student talent pipeline
Develop and maintain exceptional mentor and mentee training resources
Report on metrics for success including overall usage, quality of experiences for both alumni and students, impact on alumni in terms of engagement, and impact on students in terms of career, academic, and life choices / success
Experience and Educational Background:
Minimum of five years combined professional experience in project management, communications, and technical experience required
Some background in Higher Education strongly preferred as well as demonstrable experienced in working with college-aged populations
Experience with student advising and building large-scale programs required
Master's degree required
Strong organizational work skills, defining tasks, prioritizing assignments, and following through on all projects independently, is able to articulate challenges and proposed solutions with ease
Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
Ability to deal with a university population at all levels
Carry out any other related duties as necessary in keeping with the requirements and qualifications of the job including occasional nights and weekends as required to support programming
Skills and Competencies
Strong customer focus (ability to listen attentively to students and alumni and to understand and respond positively to their requests)
Deep and masterful knowledge of employer and alumni engagement practices and on campus recruitment programs
Experience designing and delivering complex programs including evaluating and measuring program effectiveness and outcomes required
Ability to work effectively in teams and to develop and sustain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, employers, volunteers, and community members
Strong project management skills, ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Strong relational database (CRM) system experience
High level of proficiency with web-based resources, spreadsheet and presentation software required (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)
Proven ability to work independently and as a multi-team player and to contribute to a collaborative environment with experience in oversight and project management
An entrepreneurial orientation, proven track record of taking initiative and making things happen (i.e. self-starter)
Ability to work under pressure, with the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads
