Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Career Services and Strategy and the Associate Director of Career Services, the Career and Internship Programs Advisor will be part of a career services and will be a key ambassador for all experiential related programming that takes place campus wide and beyond.
The Advisor will support all advising, programming and internship efforts on behalf of the Career Center and work closely with the Associate Dean of Career Services, Associate and Assistant Directors of Career Services, Manager of Employer Development and Engagement, Academic Affairs, and related stakeholders across the college. The advisor is responsible for all administration of Berklee for credit internships. Responsibilities also include coordination of student industry trips, administrative assistance for the L.A. Berklee Internship Program and other various administrative duties as required. This advisor will ultimately serve as a facilitator, and convener of students, employers, alumni and faculty with a specific focus on career education through advising, and programming. The Advisor will provide generalist support while working in collaboration with career advisors, to provide career advising/coaching, education and expertise to students, as it relates to internships and generally career search by providing knowledge that can help them achieve a competitive edge, and connect them to alumni and employers for information, mentorship, jobs and internships.
Successful candidates will be extremely relatable to students, and be able to develop and maintain strong relationships with faculty, chairs and employers, in addition to other stakeholders across the college.
Essential Functions/Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Works in conjunction with the Associate Director of Career Services and the Associate Dean of Career Services and Strategy to support and coordinate the administration of Berklee Internships for credit: Process applications and approve internship eligibility forms, pre-requisite waivers, and other internship data management as well as frequent updates to all templates for applications, learning contracts, evaluations and reflection papers.
Process applications for internship funding.
Develop content for promotion of the program to students, supporting students in the selection process of their internships and other searches through advising in One-on-one appointments, walk-in hours and group sessions.
Educate, assist and prepare students on specifics of applying and working at internships and full time jobs. Advise on research techniques, search strategies, networking tactics, resume and interview prep, and salary negotiation. In addition, coaching best practices on how to leverage social media platforms such as LinkedIn, and other online resources that will assist in securing internships and jobs.
Present educational materials on a variety of career topics including internship orientations and additional career development events. Work collaboratively to create and market programming such as workshops, visiting artist clinics, career fairs and auditions.
Maintain strong relationships with employers and engage them on behalf of our students, distinguishing and promoting their various skill sets.
Assist in the monitoring of student progress and employer relationships to ensure strong, educational internship experiences and employer relationships.
Assist in coordination and processing needs of all student industry trips; including marketing, trip guidebooks and preparation of students for these experiences.
Coordinate workshops and administrative needs of L.A. Internship Program, in conjunction with Alumni Affairs- Los Angeles
Provide budget management around trips and assist Career Programs Coordinator with overall budget assistance to the department
Provide support to the Assistant Directors in their assigned career communities, offering expertise about related curriculum, experiential opportunities, industry experts and employer development.

Knowledge of employer relations and the job and internship search process preferred.
2-3 years of related administrative,programming and events experience within higher education or related fields.
Previous experience advising students.
2 years of experience working with career management systems. Prior experience with budgeting software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Macintosh
