As part of an integrated Office of Leadership, Service and Career, the Center for Career & Professional Advancement (CCPA) team collectively support students, alumni and employers in achieving their career goals and outcomes. The Employer Relations Manager oversees staff, systems, policies, protocols and logistics in the execution of recruitment and maintenance of employer partnerships as well as supports the execution of the on-campus and off campus internship program under the new General Education (GE) requirements and supports the Employer Experience team to help drive employer engagement through system administration, reporting, analytics, and action planning.
This position creates, plans and manages programs associated with reaching, serving and engaging employers (student employment and off-campus jobs & internships) with students and alumni as well as other key constituencies that support the career success of students and alumni through engaging relationships, programs, events, products, technology and services.
This position reports to the Director of Employer Connections and Internships.
Provide leadership of team members and operational activities related to the Center’s employer recruitment & engagement, student internship programs (Student Success Internship and GE co-curricular internship programs).
Serves as primary point of contact for employers and students responding to questions regarding on and off-campus internship policies/procedures and internship search recruitment practices; Processes and tracks student co-curricular internship agreements and badges and facilitates students' transition into their internship assignments; responds to related questions from interns and their managers/supervisors.
Creatively consults with employers to customize the campus experience as well as manage recruiting relationships, candidate sourcing and referrals, on-campus recruitment scheduling, event coordination (virtual and in person) and event marketing. Manages the scheduling of recruiters, student interview schedules, meet ups and company presentation sessions.
Works closely with Director of Employer Connections and internships and leadership team to develop strategic initiatives, ascertain and support the employer’s recruiting needs and connect them with the best services and opportunities available; a task requiring collaboration, internal and external strategic communication and in-depth and regularly updated knowledge of university and industry needs. Manages high profile recruiting logistics and events; particularly VIP company days, employer networking and information sessions.
Communicates continuously with external stakeholders to determine their needs and develop customized recruitment strategy, whether independently or in partnership with the leadership and staff teams. Manages and coordinates the Career Fair events and other networking/recruiting events connecting students and alumni to employers.
Enforces recruiting policies and procedures to employers, staff and students. Maximizes usage and manages the day to day operation of CRM database; responsible for the database integrity, analysis and reporting related to employer and student activity and outcomes. Troubleshoots CRM issues for students and employers.
Manages the student tracking database. Runs, interprets and analyzes statistical reports and reporting metrics to support key outcomes for employer engagement, student job search, career readiness and employer and alumni survey data.
Translates vision for top-shelf employer, student and alumni engagement into programs and services. Supervises the Student Employment Coordinator and Coordinator for Silicon Valley Initiatives (contract position) to enhance student and alumni career readiness, referral to recruiter positions, and outreach to student organizations. Hire, train and manage social media student employees and employer relations student assistants and welcome/reception student ambassadors. Develop protocols for enhancing employer and student experience and building competencies related to relationship building, marketing & outreach, talent sourcing, events management, presentation skills and data analysis.
Develop training materials and conduct training for all professional staff and student assistant teams for all GE on and off-campus internship requirements, systems and office practices.
Represents UC Merced to various organizations on and off campus to enhance reputation. Engage in associations, organizations with alumni and employers to further internships, professional development and career opportunities.
Primary manager of employer engagement web sections and event calendaring. Innovate, develop and execute marketing/social media campaign strategies for recruiting activities, events and career programs for employer and student audiences. Oversee the social media strategy and promotion through channels including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and other new venues. Create and manage announcements and promotions to students using e-Newsletter, or other viable communication and media channels. Keep abreast of marketing trends and implement strategies to increase center activity.
• Bachelor's degree required and 3 years of progressively responsible related experience or equivalent training and experience.
• Prior experience with human resources, recruiting, university relations, marketing, business development, event coordination and/or customer relationship management required.
• A high degree of proficiency with technology and data analytics; particularly database management, social media and presentation software required.
• Track record of success in business development and relationship management required.
• Work occasional weekends and evenings as assigned.
• Occasional in state and out of state travel for employer outreach.
• Performs other duties necessary to support the mission and vision of the Center and UC Merced preferred.
• Ability to work with a diverse set of colleagues, supervises, administrators, students, employers, faculty, staff, visitors and other parties required.
• Strong experience generating and analyzing data and reports; problem solving and analysis background preferred.
• Strong understanding of career services and university relations at a research university preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and logistics for event planning preferred
