Provide vision and leadership for comprehensive, centralized University Career Center. Hires, trains and supervises full-time professionals working as career advisors, internship and employer developers and support staff.
Provides guidance and leadership to staff, including training, staff evaluations and merit consideration, professional development and related personnel matters.
Provides organizational responsibility for the program planning and evaluation of career services offered centrally and in collaboration with colleges and departments.
Builds and maintains relationships with established employers and implements outreach efforts to new employers to develop internship and employment opportunities for students and alumni. Promotes career center employment-related services to this constituency.
Develops short and long range operating plans and policy, which includes budgets, career development programs and services, employer relations, personnel, application of technology/other equipment and facility space.
Builds and maintains professional relationships with peers and colleagues to enhance operational performance, provide information about changing needs in the workplace and to build teamwork across the Divisions of Strategic Enrollment, Student Affairs, Student Success and Academic Affairs.
Partners with other areas within UTSA to enhance service delivery of programs and opportunities for student learning and development.
Designs and executes a system of internal controls to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of operations, assets are safeguarded and data is maintained.
Ensures compliance with university policy, UT system policy, the State of Texas and Department of Labor employment laws to include all EEO compliance requirements as it applies to students and employers.
Ensures fiscal compliance for all accounts and resources and meets or exceeds Quality Assurance Reviews.
Implements effective data collection, analysis and reporting systems that demonstrate career-related outcomes and informs strategic resource allocation and direction.
Participates in professional development activities to ensure professional growth and knowledge.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Serves on various committees and task forces across the campus and within appropriate associations.
Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with diverse populations.
Demonstrated experience in outreach to external constituents (employers, business partners and community members).
Demonstrated experience in building collaborative relationship and interactions with all levels of university administration and excellent communication skills.
Progressive experience in career planning, employment and workforce development and program development in a University or College Career Center operation with at least five years of experience in leadership, management and administration at a high level position, including program creation and implementation, program evaluation and staff supervision.
Personal computer and standard office equipment.
Experience with career and workforce related technology.
Prefer a Master’s degree in Business, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or Human Resources.
Proficient in the use of Career Center Management software or related career center software such as Handshake, GradLeaders, Simplicity, Purple Briefcase, etc.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage change within an organization.
Demonstrated enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and willingness to take appropriate risks.
Experience supervising a large, dynamic staff.
