The Senior Associate Director of Career Services for Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, serves as a member of the Student Professional Development Center leadership team.
• Serve as the Student Professional Development Center (SPDC) programming and partnership lead for Elon College, The College of Arts & Sciences (CAS); this includes building relationships with the CAS dean, associate deans, chairs, and faculty creating and supporting career development partnerships and programs • Supervise, develop, and support CAS career advisors • Represent the SPDC on campus-wide committees/councils such as the SPDC Advisory Council and Experiential Education Advisory Council • Grow and successfully implement Career Communities model across campus • Maintain, grow, and update all career development content and programming • Advise CAS students on career development topics such as major/career choice, resume/cover letter, job/internship search, interviewing, and networking • Present to student groups, classes, etc. on career development topics • Manage “Don’t Cancel Class;” a program encouraging faculty to, rather than canceling a class, request an SPDC advisor to come in and present on career development topics • Teach one career development class (Transitions Strategies) the first half of each semester • Execute high quality career development events • Coordinate fall & spring resume blitz prior to Expos • Participate in affinity group presentation as requested (alumni, parents, etc.) • Coordinate staffing of admissions events throughout the year • Support all on-campus recruiting and career events throughout the year
Requirements: • Master’s degree in higher education or related discipline. • 10 or more years of experience in career advising and coaching • Experience training and supervising staff • Collegial style of leadership and the ability to build consensus and collaboration using strong interpersonal and listening skills • Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment • Exceptional oral presentation and written communication skills • Ability to engage diverse students, staff and faculty; commitment to inclusion and cultural competencies • Experience with technology and ability to learn new technologies
