The E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Advising and Student Support in the Wall Center for Excellence. The Wall Center Director of Advising and Student Support provides innovative and strategic leadership to serve the mission of the Wall College of Business in the context of the Coastal Carolina University (CCU) strategic plan. The Director will lead and manage the Wall Center for Advising in providing exceptional services that support student success.
Duties include, but are not limited too: thinking strategically and creatively about advising services and programs offered in the Wall Center; developing annual and departmental objectives to support goal achievement; leading efforts to increase student retention and strengthen activities related to student persistence and graduation; leading the division in engagement of high-impact best practices to continuously improve the advising model; supervising professional staff and peer advising program to ensure all personnel are well prepared to provide quality advising aligned with best practices; working collaboratively with a team, in the college and across campus, to provide exceptional services that prepare students for success; engaging in activities of the center, such as advising business students, freshmen orientation, and teaching First Year Experience; providing in-depth analysis and reporting on data for accreditation and improvement purposes; coordinating student clubs, honor societies, and other activities in the Wall College of Business to maximize student engagement; and ensuring effective communication with students, staff, and faculty in the Wall College to ensure stakeholders receive the information needed at the appropriate times and that the messages are clear, compelling, and motivating.
Qualifications: A Master’s degree in relevant area and experience in student services programs are required. Experience in supervising and managing an academic advising or student support center in a university setting desired. Preferred Experience with Datatel software and five years of experience in academic advising, student support services and/or teaching in higher education is also preferred. A successful candidate will possess exceptional critical thinking and interpersonal skills; must be enthusiastic; possess excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills; and the ability to be comfortable with technology/ willingness to learn software used by Coastal Carolina University.
