The Associate Director, Career Services provides leadership, in conjunction with the director, career services for the University of Richmond’s career advising and programming for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni of the Schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, Leadership Studies and Professional & Continuing Studies. The Associate Director represents the office to a broad range of constituents, including students, parents, employers, faculty, staff and alumni to fulfill the goals and mission of the Office of Alumni and Career Services.

CAREER SERVICES LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGIC PLANNING
With the director, set the strategic vision for the team and lead staff in developing and implementing shared strategic priorities; monitor and report progress toward strategic goals and objectives.
Lead the comprehensive department strategy to ensure that students and alumni have access to relevant and timely career programs and resources.
Take a leadership role in collecting and preparing data shared with guidebooks, with particular responsibility for Bloomberg Business Week student career information reporting.
In conjunction with the associate director, experiential learning and assessment and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, regularly measure outcomes of office student career preparation programs and services and report results to stakeholders including Board of Trustees, President, faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni and employers.
Research career development trends and provide comparative and benchmark information to place group achievements in context. Utilize assessment information to modify programs and services.
Lead and direct several major office-wide administrative functions. Examples of functions include:
Technology strategy and career resource management: In conjunction with assistant director, recommend resource improvements and research career resources appropriate for UR student body.
Assessment strategy: In conjunction with associate director, identify office data needs and create, distribute and analyze the results of multiple assessments, including measurement of student needs and post-graduation outcomes.
CAREER ADVISING AND PROGRAMMING
Coordinate and lead career advising efforts for students interested in finance careers. Take a leadership role in planning Spiders on Wall Street, Deconstructing Wall Street, Training the Street and related finance programs.
Oversee all elements of an alumni mock interview program for students interested in finance. Conduct finance mock interviews.
Research, recommend and implement supplemental resources to aid student preparation for finance careers (ie: Wall Street Oasis, Training the Street, etc.). Monitor effectiveness of programs.
Advise students and alumni in individual appointments, walk-in advising and small groups about exploring career and education options and in developing effective experiential learning, job search and graduate and professional school search strategies.
Develop content and conduct class informational sessions on a variety of topics to include self-exploration, résumé writing, interviewing, internship/job search strategies, networking tactics and ethics in the workplace.
Research and prepare topics to present focusing on first and second year students and career exploration, juniors and seniors focused on internships, jobs and post-baccalaureate education options.
Administer and interpret assessment instruments to assist students and alumni with self-appraisal. Conduct periodic evaluations of career development tools as necessary.
Serve as academic advisor to up to 10 new undeclared students each year.
Lead a strategic and coordinated approach to career services for the Robins School of Business, including formation of annual comprehensive business school career advising and programming goals.
Lead regular meetings with Robins School of Business faculty and staff and serve as primary contact for the Director of Career Programs in Business. Serve as career services representative on the Q Camp Advisory Council and Student Advisory Council.
Serve as OACS liaison to additional designated academic departments in the School of Arts and Sciences or Jepson School of Leadership Studies and to designated university departments (i.e.: Office of International Education, Center for Civic Engagement, Multicultural Education, first year students, pre-health students, student athletes).
Create and make presentations to faculty/staff/students/families in liaison areas. Suggest and lead relevant programs.
Serve as OACS liaison to the finance industry as well as other assigned industries/professions. Devise and implement content strategy for assigned areas with the goal of diversifying and expanding total employment prospects for students in collaboration with employer development team.
Maintain relationships with employers, alumni, and families to steward extern, intern, full-time, and programming opportunities in collaboration with employer development group. Through ongoing in-person and phone meetings, build rapport and market skills of UR students. Work with employer development group to discuss strategy and creation of new relationships and expansion of existing relationships.
Collaborate with Communications Manager to effectively market opportunities to students and alumni.
Serve on University committees as assigned.
Full-time, exempt position
Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week; flexibility needed to work some evenings and weekends
Some local travel possible

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
