Reporting to the Director of Career and Civic Engagement, the Associate Director for Internships and Employer Engagement provides leadership for internships and employer engagement initiatives.
Serves as liaison to the Provost's Office on all internship matters and co-facilitates Internship Coordinator meetings with the Faculty Co-Chair. Communicates best practices for internships, policy regulations and changes to all appropriate Winthrop audiences. Ensures relevant training, program manuals and program materials for faculty, staff, students and employers are integrated into the internship process. Conducts internship program evaluations and oversees data collection, management and analysis. Prepares pertinent internship reports and publications; facilitates the review of Affiliation Agreements; maintains accurate employer and student records; and maintains statistics regarding student tracking. Uses student and employer evaluations to assess intern performance at mid-point and end-of-term.
Supervises one professional staff member and one graduate assistant.
Consults with employer partners to develop and promote career and internship opportunities for Winthrop students. Encourages employer engagement in on-campus recruiting and student career preparation programming and collaborates with employer engagement team members and campus stakeholders to plan and implement employer-connection events and activities. Develops and enforces policies for employer participation in internship and recruiting programs. Creates and oversees method for collecting satisfaction results and feedback on recruiting programs from employers and students.
Supports student success through the delivery of workshops, classroom presentations, individual career counseling and special events.
Master's degree in Business, Organizational Development/Communication, Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs or related area required.
Two years of experience in student counseling, human resources, recruitment or placement services highly desired. Knowledge of assessment, learning outcomes and best practices nationally. Strong knowledge of resume writing, interview techniques and job search strategies. Ability to communicate orally and in writing and use communication skills for program management; establish and maintain effective working relationships to build faculty support; use research and networking skills to grow internship opportunities; and use technology to increase efficiencies. Familiarity with career assessments and counseling or coaching techniques. Ability to travel and work flexible hours.
