In collaboration with the entire University community – faculty, administrators, and staff – this position will lead efforts to create a robust culture of career readiness education and development for students across the University.
Responsibilities of this position include leading, managing, and implementing campus wide efforts to integrate career education into curricula across the University, incorporate career readiness education into co-curricular experiences, and assess the University’s career readiness education strategies.
Leadership and Management
Serve as the University’s expert regarding career development, career readiness, and professional development strategies and programs for students. (Career development, career readiness, and professional development is referred to together as “career education.”)
Develop strategic objectives for campus-wide career education initiatives.
Develop and implement a comprehensive career education program that integrates with curricula, co-curricular experiences, student employment, and other programs across the University.
Build partnerships with faculty, administrators, and staff to build and support effective career education strategies across the University.
In conjunction with other University staff members with relevant responsibilities, build partnerships with alumni and non-UP individuals and entities (such non-UP employers) to support effective career education strategies across the University.
Create and lead a steering committee comprised of faculty, administrators, and staff to identify career education needs of students and opportunities for systematic integration of career education into curricula and programs.
Develop and implement effective strategies to create knowledge and understanding across campus about the world of work and the value of experiential learning as a critical component of professional development.
Supervise staff as assigned. Supervisory responsibilities include recruitment and hiring processes, setting of expectations, training and professional development, performance management and evaluations, and disciplinary processes including termination of employment.
Programming, Guidance, and Assessment
Develop and implement programs that support career education. Programs may include: peer career advisors program; career influencers program; programs and events related to integrating career education into the University’s student employment opportunities; and other types of programs and events aimed at education and/or dialogue with students, administrators, faculty, staff, alumni, and employers.
Develop and implement trainings for faculty, administrators, and staff about incorporating and integrating career education into curricula and co-curricular activities. Create effective training programs so that relevant faculty and staff across campus can provide such guidance to students.
Provide career education guidance to students via effective formats, whether individual meetings, group presentations, or other formats.
Utilize valid and reliable research and evaluation methods to gather, analyze, and report on data related to career education initiatives and programs.
Other duties as relevant to the duties of the position or as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Education and Experience
Required: bachelor’s degree
Strongly preferred: master’s degree in related field such as counseling, communications, education, higher education, or human resources.
Required: A minimum of five years of relevant experience. Proven track record of developing career education related partnerships and programming within an academic setting.
Strongly preferred: Experience with curriculum design and program development; experience developing and assessing student learning outcomes.
Or equivalent education and/or experience.
Certifications and Licenses
Preferred: active driver’s license.
