The Assistant/Associate Director, Business, Entrepreneurship and Consulting will serve as the primary point of contact for any student at William & Mary focused on careers in consulting, finance and banking, analytics, accounting, management and entrepreneurship. This role includes career coaching, interview preparation, working individually with students on choosing a career path, conducting a job/internship/graduate school search, preparing resumes/cover letters/graduate school applications, and conducting career assessments. Additionally, this role will report to and support the Director with employer development, alumni engagement and immersion trips. This position works closely with the Mason School of Business and the Boehly Center for Excellence in Finance, within the Mason School of Business. In addition, the incumbent will have the opportunity to engage with several student clubs, programs and activities, present workshops, use assessment skills and develop student and faculty outreach.
This role actively engages in ongoing communications to support the needs of the students within the Mason School of Business, as well as students interested in business careers at William & Mary. The Cohen Career Center not only operates within a career community model, but within a faculty liaison model as well, meeting student’s career interests from freshmen through alumni.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge of student development and career development theory and practice; career advising skills; effective oral and written communication skills; technological proficiency; proven ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, alumni, employers and staff colleagues. A Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Business, Counseling, Student Affairs or a related field is required, as well 1-2 years of experience, to include a graduate assistantship in a college career services office, campus recruiting, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Two to five years of experience in career services supporting students seeking opportunities in industry specific areas, knowledge of career resources, programming and employer/alumni outreach.
