The School of Business Full-time MBA Program is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Career Development (Program Manager, UCP 7). The incumbent will report to the Full-time MBA Director and will provide program management and administrative coordination for career development activities of the Full-time MBA Program career development team. The incumbent will work collaboratively with all School of Business career development employees and employees of the Full-time MBA Program in addition to School of Business and other University of Connecticut departments. The position will be based at the Graduate Business Learning Center in downtown Hartford. Nights and weekends will be required in support of program needs. Occasional travel both in-state and out-of-state will also be required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to:
Creating, planning, overseeing and delivering career development programs and information in a classroom setting and on an individual basis to Full-time MBA (FTMBA) students and to graduate business students and programs as needed.
Coordinating and monitoring the day-to-day administration of the FTMBA career team; performing office management duties for the career team.
Preparing necessary reports.
Training, supervising and coordinating activities of FTMBA career employees; writing and conducting performance evaluations.
Making budget recommendations and monitoring approved budget and expenditures.
Guiding students through a self-assessment process which includes activities to identify students' strengths/skills, abilities, and areas for development. This includes activities such as developing their personal brand and value-proposition.
Providing insight on how to best communicate experience, knowledge and education on written collateral such as: a resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile, etc., to effectively relay the students' value to the target audience.
Conducting mock interviews/case interviews, discussing negotiation strategies and equipping students with valuable networking strategies.
Researching the current job market and hiring trends, interpreting findings and using this knowledge to offer insight and guidance to support students' career management goals and job search strategies.
Managing and coordinating external employer recruiting relationships in conjunction with the Director of Engagement and Outreach.
Interacting with employers to generate job leads for students seeking internships or full-time employment.
Overseeing the collection and reporting of internship and full-time placement data.
Regularly evaluating programs, meetings, workshops, policies and procedures by conducting student satisfaction surveys.
Monitoring and disseminating information regarding compliance with professional certification or accreditation requirements.
Masters' degree in business, counseling or related field and at least one year of relevant experience; or Bachelors' degree and at least three years' relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience providing career or executive coaching to graduate students, career-changers, managers.
Demonstrated experience planning and organizing workshops/training courses/curricula and creating training materials.
Demonstrated excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills including the ability to network, build and maintain trusting relationships with faculty, staff, students, administrators, business leaders, external agencies/groups and the public.
Proven excellent writing and editing skills as demonstrated by applicant material.
Demonstrated experience successfully implementing time management techniques, taking initiative, working independently and exercising sound judgement when making decisions.
Demonstrated oral communication skills including the ability to successfully present information to small and large groups.
Demonstrated experience supervising employees.
Demonstrated technological proficiency with various systems such as Microsoft Office products, CRM systems, etc.
Willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends and travel in-state and out-of-state in support of program events and activities.
MBA or Master's degree in business, counseling or related field.
At least five years of experience providing career or executive coaching to career-changers or managers or in higher education coaching graduate students.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse international populations.
Demonstrated involvement in creating and implementing programming that enhances student and/or employee professional development.
This is a full-time position based in downtown Hartford.
