Job Description: Eight years of career services experience in higher education. Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to details; and excellent professional judgement skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills to effectively manage professional relationships with students, administrators, staff and the public. Sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Ability to function with limited supervision.
1. Develops a comprehensive career development program for the campus. 2. Facilitates the ongoing career development of students and alumni through individual and group interactions. 3. Coaches and trains students in career-related activities, including resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, interviewing skills, professional associations and networking practices. 4. Collaborates with academic departments to develop career-related activities in the classroom, provides classroom presentations on career-related topics, creates and facilitates events related to specific careers or populations. 5. Tracks and reports graduate employment statistics according to all state and federally mandated gainful employment regulations. 6. Ensures that information on graduate employment is obtained and documented in a timely manner for strategic purposes. 7. Monitors and implements current best practices, industry trends and timeliness for recruitment, job search, application, and professional preparation. Measures effectiveness and scale of programming. Reviews and recommends emerging software to improve student outcomes. 8. Updates and executes recruiting plans that bring employers on campus, either in-person or virtually. 9. Oversees and evaluates the effectiveness of career services through the assessment of outcomes and evidence-based practice. 10. Establish relationships with employers, faculty, and alumni to ensure opportunities for jobs and internships are current 11. Maintains current knowledge of career trends, labor market trends, occupational information, local, state and regional employer base and career and self-assessment instruments. 12. Creates and hosts job fairs, mock interviews, and other employer visits/contacts. 13. Responds to the needs of the employers in a timely and professional manner. 14. Represents UTSA at campus events as needed both on campus and off-site. 15. Hires, supervises, develops and performance management to assigned staff and student workers. 16. Commits to the philosophical mission of the University. Collaborates deeply within the career center and UTSA.
17. Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
