The Career and Advising Center Director is responsible for leading a dynamic, comprehensive integrated team serving the advising and career services needs of NDSU students. The position focuses on department leadership and management, partner development, and program initiatives and innovation. The Director provides leadership to a team of 15 professional staff and 20+- student employees and oversees a budget of approximately $2M.
• Master’s degree • Minimum of 5 years’ leadership/management experience in the areas of career services, academic advising, student affairs, human resources, education and/or closely related areas • Evidence of strong supervisory skills and ability to motivate a team toward common goals • Experience with budgeting/financial management • Strong collaborative, team-building style for establishing and maintaining working relationships in the department and with faculty/staff/students across the University, as well as employer groups in the community • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion practices • Problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills • Strong customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Experience in career services, advising or other student service in higher education • Experience leading change management, strategic planning, innovative program development and assessment • Experience with large scale technology software implementation • Knowledgeable about career development strategies, evolving industry recruitment strategies, student development, developmental advising techniques or equivalent of these areas
