GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Associate Director for Internship Coordination and Employer Relations is responsible for leading the career-related local, regional, and national employer relations efforts while fostering external and internal constituents of Fitchburg State University. The Assoc. Dir. will develop strategic recruitment plans to strengthen the presence of employers on campus in support of the University's desired goals concerning the career outcomes for students and graduates. The Assoc. Dir. is responsible for managing the development of partnerships between Fitchburg State University and external communities, to expand the number and variety of experiential learning and full-time employment opportunities for Fitchburg State University students. The Assoc. Dir. will work alongside the Director in establishing and managing strategic partnerships and relationships with employers and other external constituents.
Bachelor's degree in relevant field required. Master's degree preferred with 3-5 years of experience working in the employer relations arena within higher education, corporate college relations, or employer recruitment.
Working knowledge across multiple sectors including private, public, and non-profit, highly desired.
Preference for bilingual, Spanish-speaking candidates as well as experience working with diverse student populations.
Demonstrated experience planning and implementing both small- and large-scale recruiting events.
Ability to work with a broad range of internal and external constituents including students, alumni, employers, faculty, and staff.
Evidence of an understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment that seeks to improve delivery of services and increases student success.
Strong written and oral communication, as well as interpersonal, skills.
Strong organizational, program development, and creative thinking skills, as well as competency to oversee multiple tasks with keen attention to details.
Demonstrated familiarity with the latest scholarship on career development and student support services, as well as the ability to transform theory into practice.
Computer literacy skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, student record systems, advising and online tools such as LinkedIn and Glassdoor). Experience with Handshake preferred.
Ability to perform above duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI), as well as a completed background check satisfactory to the University.
