The Director of Career Design is responsible for providing vision and leadership in expanding the Center as a leading resource for undergraduate, graduate, and alumni alignment with USG's Momentum Approach and university's mission and vision. This position will integrate design thinking principles to assist students with focusing their interests, values, strengths, and aspirations in making decisions about their careers and their futures.
Develop and integrate a comprehensive career services program for CSU students in alignment with the USG's Momentum Approach.
Collaborate with local and national employers to connect students with career opportunities.
Work with internal and external partners, such as the Alumni Association, Students Life and Development, and the First-Year Experience Program, to develop career pathways for CSU students.
Integrate design thinking principles into career services and develop learning opportunities for students to articulate their skills, values, and career plans.
Collaborate with community and industry partners to provide cooperative education and internship opportunities.
Coordinate with academic units to enrich internship and student employment experiences.
Develop, train, and oversee career peer advisors and student staff to assist with resume writing, mock-interviews, and other services.
Coach, counsel, and motivate students and/ graduates to develop relationships.
Collect, analyze, and report data as needed.
Plan, organize, and execute special events as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Considerable knowledge of human resources principles and practices in regards to the hiring and employment process.
Considerable knowledge of office management procedures and systems.
Outstanding connection to the community and a willingness to engage outside of the office in order to develop lasting partnerships for the benefit of students/alumni.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Basic marketing skills, including the ability to design promotional materials and utilize social media platforms for professional networking.
Extensive sales skills, including the willingness and ability to solicit and engage corporate and individual sponsors for events and services.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, faculty/staff, students, and the general public.
Experience with career service platforms (i.e., Handshake, Portfolium, etc.); and career assessment inventories.
Abilities to design and produce tutorial videos; design career development curriculum for online students.
