The LSA Opportunity Hub at the University of Michigan is looking for a Director of Alum Engagement who will help achieve our mission to support students as they develop their career aspirations and professional identities. We provide students access to internships, internship funding, career coaching and exploration, and connections to employers and alums. We believe in the power of a liberal arts education, and the Director of Alum Engagement will design opportunities for liberal arts students to connect to liberal arts alum. The Director of Alum Engagement provides vision, and leadership for the alum engagement work in the LSA Opportunity Hub. You will report to the Assistant Dean of Student Development and Career Initiatives. The work includes defining alum and donor partnerships, building additional strategic partnerships, shaping strategy for engagement, stewardship of funding and resources, and connecting these efforts to the Hub’s overall work. The Director of Alum Engagement will direct, coach, and oversee the work of the alum engagement team. These responsibilities focus on the three following areas: Alum engagement strategy for the LSA Opportunity Hub: Develop a strategy that increases the number of alum engaged with the Hub; Develop opportunities for LSA students to connect with alum, and align the engagement of alum with the student-centered exploratory mission of the LSA Opportunity Hub and reflects the diversity of the interests and identities of our students; work with the Hub and LSA Advancement teams. Oversee all phases of the alum engagement process. Leadership for the alum engagement area: Build and direct a team working directly with alum; create structure and guidance for alum engagement within the Hub across the areas of work; provide team management; develop relationships with a diverse network of alums that promote connections for students that are inclusive and supportive of the identities, experiences, and goals of our students. Operational Strategy: Design and oversee the implementation of operational efforts such tracking and metrics; employ inclusive, equitable and racially just practices to develop and oversee methods for managing alum engagement in the Hub, within the college, and in partnership with LSA Advancement; under the guidance of the Assistant Dean and in close partnership with LSA Advancement, manage the engagement of prospective and current donors.
