Albright College, a liberal arts college in Reading, PA, is seeking applications for a Career Development Coach. The Career Development Coach’s primary focus is student career counseling and outreach. They will collaborate closely with internal partners (OSIL, Student Clubs/Organizations, Athletics, Faculty) and external partners (employers, alumni) to implement programs and resources for students. They will develop working relationships with faculty, department directors, and students to facilitate connections, provide appropriate resources, and enhance students' knowledge of career and continuing education opportunities. This individual will possess demonstrated commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion, sensitivity to the needs of culturally diverse and marginalized groups, and working with students holding a range of worldviews.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop positive and professional relationships with an array of key stakeholders, including students, employers, faculty, staff, and alumni;
Administer and interpret assessment instruments to assist students and alumni with self-assessment of interests, skills, values, and/or personality preferences;
Connect students with career exploration opportunities including job shadowing, informational interviewing, career panels and presentations, and pre-professional advising, etc. requiring ability to synthesize and communicate insights gained from variety of industries;
Track and record student or alumni client contact; maintain confidentiality;
Liaison with assigned academic departments to share resources and events related to career exploration, internship and job opportunities;
Develop and present career workshops/class visits based on student populations by year (FYS vs Senior Seminar) and/or major(s) and prepare related materials (i.e. PowerPoint presentations and/or handouts);
Sponsor outreach activities, including workshops and presentations for RAs in resident halls as well as with athletics, the ALC, diverse student groups, and other various campus populations/organizations;
Oversee professional document (resume, cover letter) submission to the ELCDC that require revision, and revise or assign Student Peer Educators the task of revision;
Oversee and/or administer mock interviews in connection with the Student Peer Educators;
Assist in the coordination of major events organized by the Director of Student Professional Development;
In collaboration with the Director of Student Professional Development, supervise ELCDC Student Peer Educators, defining performance expectations, evaluating students, coaching students providing a one-on-one review with each student every semester; collaborate with ELCDC staff in the interviewing, hiring, and training of students;
Coach traditional day students, SPS students, and alumni in individual, walk-ins and group settings on all aspects of the career development process including major/career exploration, pursuing effective experiential learning opportunities, internship/job search skills, interviewing, networking, researching employers, professionalism, support with graduate/professional school research/application and use of related online tools; attention on how to best scale services and resources for greater outreach;
Work closely with academic department chairs and faculty, serving as a liaison to assigned departments and administrative offices to facilitate collaborative programming focused on the needs of liberal arts students;
Oversee marketing efforts related to social media accounts, and track engagement in consultation with the Associate Dean of Student Professional Development and Experiential Learning;
Represent the ELCDC at Open House and Welcome Weekend events on a rotation with all members of the ELCDC staff;
Serve the College through involvement on relevant committees and during events;
Represent Albright College in consortium events in cooperation with other college/universities;
Represent Albright College in outreach opportunities with local high schools in career advisory and professional development events for their students;
Performs other duties as required in keeping with the mission of the ELCDC and Albright College.

A thorough understanding of the liberal arts
At least one year of experience working with students, particularly in an advisory capacity. Preferred experience in higher education career development, with strong knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling process, career coaching techniques, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques.
Experience with database management and career services-related software
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Preferred Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in counseling, education, psychology, or closely related field.
