Albright College, a liberal arts college in Reading, PA, is seeking applications for Director of Student Professional Development in the Career Center. The Director of Student Professional Development is responsible for the planning and management of operations related to student professional development, including but not limited to career development and continuing education within the Experiential Learning and Career Development Center at Albright College in the Traditional Day program as Albright College. The Director reports to the Associate Dean of Student Professional Develop & Experiential Learning and works within the Academic Affairs Traditional Day Program. This individual will possess demonstrated commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion, sensitivity to the needs of culturally diverse and marginalized groups, and working with students holding a range of worldviews.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage operations related to student professional development including but not limited to career exploration, career-related experiential learning, and continuing education.
Work with the ELCDC Administrative Assistant to help manage the Career Development budget within the ELCDC.
Work collaboratively with the Career Development Coach and Associate Dean of Student Professional Development & Experiential Learning to broker relationships with faculty, staff, employers, alumni, community partners, institutions of higher learning, etc.
Investigate external opportunities and work with the Associate Dean to create partnership and articulation agreements that will help improve positive student outcomes.
Provide resources related to student professional development to the campus community, with attention given to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Work with key campus stakeholders to develop/revise policy that reflects best practices related to student professional development.
Collaborate with ELCDC staff to establish relationships with employers and graduate/professional institutions that will increase positive student outcomes.
Work with the Director of Career Development to design, execute and promote high quality customized workshops, special programs and events (internship and job fairs, employer/industry panels, networking events, and on-campus interviewing) to meet the needs of Albright College students and including major-specific programming by playing a critical role in facilitating connections between students, alumni, graduate schools and additional professionals/employers.
Collaborate with departments such as Residential Life, Institutional Research, Alumni and Donor Engagement, Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, Admissions, and DSI to provide opportunities for students related to professional development.
Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Student Professional Development & Experiential Learning to make data-driven assessments of programming based upon student learning and professional development outcomes.
Disseminate information from graduate institutions to relevant academic departments and the ELCDC to aid in student post-graduate exploration.
Work closely with academic departments to create pathways for post-graduate success.
Address questions from students related to various graduate school admission requirements.
Coordinate with the Associate Dean of Student Professional Development & Experiential Learning, Institutional Research, and Director of Career Development to administer Albright’s graduate surveys related to employment and graduate/professional school status.
Supervise Career Development Coaches and Student Peer Educators to ensure day-to-day operations related to student professional development meet the need of the campus community.
Represent the ELCDC at Open House and Welcome Weekend events on a rotation with all members of the ELCDC staff.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, including ability to deal tactfully with different audiences under sometimes challenging circumstances
Ability to articulate the role and importance of a small, private, residential, liberal arts college education.
Demonstrated knowledge career issues related to diverse student populations
Knowledge of trends in career development, technology and higher education.
Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others in a team environment
Knowledge of best practices related to leadership and management of staff
Effective presentation, organizational, and communication skills
Mature interpersonal skills, especially tact and diplomacy, in dealing with constituents of diverse background, age, and experience
Working knowledge of various software related to student professional development, data visualizations, and spreadsheets.
Ability to effectively collaborate with campus and community partners
Overall knowledge of higher education curricula and academic policies.
Knowledge of experiential learning processes and their value to college/university students and community.
Entrepreneurial, creative and innovative spirit; comfort with leading change in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated commitment to best practices in career services as well as the competencies and ethical guidelines developed by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
5+ years of progressively responsible experience in career services/development, college relations and marketing, or business experience, preferably in the field of placement.
Experience in project management, including budget management.
Master's degree, PhD preferred in Human Development, Human Resources, Leadership, Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Instructional Design, Education, or a similar field.
