Host in-person/virtual career fairs and employer panels
Provide applied practice and internship support
Execute career and employer relations administrative tasks and services
Develop relationships with local industry to create internship and employment pipelines
Conduct research on occupational trends
Cultivate relationships with hiring managers locally, in the metro Atlanta area and internationally.
Network with Brenau alumnae/alumni
Career Advising, Placement, and Guidance
Plan, organize, and coordinate campus wide events that develop students holistically and complement their academic experience
Advise current students on graduate schools
Organize and host resume writing workshops
Meet with clients on an individual basis to assist in career planning and development
Assist with career seminars, workshops, and classroom presentations
Provide 1:1 career advising to current students and alumnae/alumni
Maintain an on-line advising appointment calendar
Provide early awareness career workshops via First Year Seminar courses.
Conduct career orientations, job search workshops, self-assessments workshops, and career change workshops.
Instruct students regarding the proper usage of career networking sites (i.e. LinkedIn) as well as using career development platforms (i.e. indeed)
Educate students on proper virtual interviewing attire and etiquette
Career and Special Events Management
Update and maintain the web-based resources for community use
Actively pursue ways to reach out to the post-/non-traditional students
Coordinate Career Fairs and Employer Events
Present Career Services at student sponsored events, admissions events and within courses
Social Media outreach via LinkedIn and other platforms
Coordinate and host specialized events partnering with hospitals, schools, community organizations, etc.
Career and Employment Assessment
Work with the Institutional Research and Planning Director to gather alumnae/alumni outcomes data.
Conduct annual graduate outcomes survey.
Assist with the assessment and evaluation of programs and policies
Assess and evaluate all career programs and policies
Use of appropriate career assessments to assist in counseling the students with their majors and career goals.
Professional and Resource Development
Establish and maintain trusting relationships with all constituents including: alumnae/alumni, parents, volunteers, university faculty, staff and administrators, local and campus community, and vendors
Serve as a liaison to colleagues and upper level administration to develop an understanding of career services for organizational development
Locate and maintain career software
Maintain online job board and work closely with webmaster to maintain/update career services website.
Maintain professional membership to State and National Career organizations
Develop and maintain a career services database
Maintain and promote cutting edge resources for job seekers
University Relations and Policy Support
Maintain a commitment to the University's mission and fundamental goals, the division’s mission, and the department’s goals
Supervise student support under the Federal Work Study Program
Assume an active role in the on-going development process of each student to ensure maximum growth of the individual
Understand and educate students about University policies and the honor code
Promote and encourage students in responsible self-direction and ethical behavior
Aid students in obtaining assistance from other student services through referrals and provide crisis intervention when needed
Cooperatively work with faculty to ensure academic stability of individual students
Maintain necessary files and documents
Follow establish procedures when storing, communicating, releasing, or destroying confidential materials in regards to student information
Work to identify and meet the unique needs of students
Serve as an adviser, mentor, and role model for students
Understand and articulate the benefits of single-sex education as well as co-ed education
Help students develop and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning
Stimulate, coordinate, and support campus-wide programming
Attend bi-weekly meetings with direct supervisor and attend regular departmental meetings
Demonstrate behaviors that are in agreement with departmental policies, procedures, and decisions
Encourage and support staff members by sharing feedback and be open to receiving feedback
Monitor risk management with regard to areas of responsibility
Serve on University and Departmental committees
Development and maintain a departmental budget and sound fiscal management
Other duties as assigned
Education – Master’s degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Experience – Significant experience in Career Services, placement, or related.
Personal Qualities - Strong communication skills: strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to coordinate and develop multiple programs, identify market trends, and launch new initiatives. Committed to the core values and mission of the University, Student Services, and a liberal arts education
Supervisory Responsibilities - Supervise paraprofessional staff and student leaders
Special Factors - Work with all departments and personnel of the University
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Normal environment found in an educational setting. Some exposure to outdoors and varying weather conditions may be required.
Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Some lifting and or carrying objects weighing 15 + lbs may be required. This position requires repetitive usage of arms, legs, eyes to include standing to a significant degree.
40 hours per week. Generally Monday-Friday from 9:30a.m. to 6:00p.m. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department.
This position requires that the employee hold and continue to maintain a clean criminal history background. In addition, all employees who operate university vehicles are subject to random drug-screenings.
