Develop experiential opportunities for students exploring health care careers, such as job shadowing, career previews, and internships in a variety of health care careers and settings. Provide individual and group career coaching to students pursuing careers in health care. Plan and implement health care programming for students, such as workshops, presentations, industry panels, and on-campus recruiting. Support the integration of career-readiness into Alverno's Nursing and Health Care curriculum.
Develop relationships with area health care organizations, in order to facilitate experiential opportunities for students seeking to explore health care careers.
Develop job shadowing, career preview events, and internship opportunities for a variety of health care careers.
Identify and direct students to existing volunteer, employment and internship opportunities in a variety of settings.
Meet individually with undergraduate students to assist them in exploring health care occupations and identifying experiential activities.
Coach students in developing effective internship and job search strategies.
Monitor credit-bearing health care related internships through documentation and site visits.
Plan and implement health care career programming for students, such as workshops, presentations, industry panels, and on-campus recruiting.
Collaborate with Nursing faculty teaching HTH-150: Intro to Health & Helping Careers to design activities that will help intended Nursing students, who are at-risk of not succeeding in the major, identify alternative career paths and majors.
Track employer engagement (e.g. meetings, events and other communication) and experiential opportunities developed for students; generate monthly and annual reports.
Stay abreast of health care job market needs and employment trends, and share trends with faculty and students.
Help cultivate and curate resources for integration of career-readiness skills into Nursing and Health Care curriculum for faculty.
Participate in campus meetings and committees, including Nursing Advisory Committee.
Participate in professional development organizations and events (e.g. SEWNA and WIPCCC).
Perform other tasks as necessary to support the mission of the College.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or higher preferred.
3-5 years of experience working in health care, career services and/or health care recruiting
Strong business communication skills including presentation/public speaking skills and report writing.
Demonstrated experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring.
Experience developing relationships and collaborations with internal/external partners.
Knowledge of the Southeastern Wisconsin health care industry and organizations. An established network of local community contacts is a plus.
Experience developing and giving business presentations and/or programming, such as workshops, presentations, panels, or other types of events, is helpful.
Strong computer skills, including experience with MS Office and video conferencing.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets the qualifications of an Alverno driver, and willingness to travel within Southeastern Wisconsin.
