The Yale College, Center for International and Professional Experience (CIPE) is a group of offices that work together, and with other academic advisers on campus, to support students throughout their four years at Yale as they make decisions about their academic plans and explore career options. Principal Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean of International and Professional Experience, the Director provides information, analysis, and visual data representation for key decision-making within the Center for International and Professional Experience and, where needed, across Yale College. The Director will work across University data sources to extract, merge, and collect relevant data, staying abreast of issues and concerns at Yale and across higher education. They will guide annual and project reporting, including data gathering for periodic reaccreditation, and will advise staff across divisions. Developing assessment tools based on recognized and innovative models, the Director will create a strategy based on evidence-based practices to plan and assess our work. They will effectively communicate with students, faculty, administrative, and external audiences using graphic and text-based modalities.
In collaboration with the CIPE and Yale College leadership teams, they will prepare and implement a strategic plan for consistent measurement and reporting of educational and investment outcomes. Linking programmatic initiatives with outreach activities, the Director will create a plan to guide new and ongoing initiatives accessible to all students, in cooperation with divisions across Yale College.
The Director will lead committees across divisions, supervising staff and student workers as needed. The Director will provide analytic support for a wide range of projects and will guide the creation and delivery of annual assessments for such initiatives as Freshman Scholars at Yale, the Visiting International Student Program, and the Summer Experience Award. Additional duties, as assigned.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree with relevant coursework strongly preferred. Experience in developing survey and assessment strategies for measuring impact and outcomes and demonstrated success in developing accessible tools to convey data-based evidence to a range of audiences.
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to identify evidence needs, perform quantitative and qualitative data analyses using the results to create innovative and useful informational tools, and produce excellent visualizations of data.
- Interest in and knowledge of current issues and national and international practices in higher education assessment.
- Proven ability to guide strategic planning, manage projects, and guide teams in completing and using the results of the evidence-based analysis to improve work.
- Proven interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex statistical information to non-technical audiences.
- Appreciation and respect for principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ability to engage with diverse individuals (age, gender, nationality, race/ethnicity, profession, sexual orientation, etc.)
- Ability to collaboratively manage projects involving a high degree of detail and requiring strong organization skills.
- Superior ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of internal and external constituents.
- Ability to independently initiate programmatic and individual activities while functioning in a team setting.
