Champlain's Career Collaborative is the centralized career center at Champlain College and provides comprehensive, innovative career development to undergraduate, graduate students and alumni, and actively prepares students with meaningful opportunities for internships and career-relevant employment. Additionally, Career Collaborative manages a nationally recognized Life Skills Readiness initiative in a program called InSight, which this role will support.
As a Career Coach your work will directly impact the career trajectory of Champlain undergraduates and alumni. Coaching those in the Game Studio degree programs, your caseload will be infused with a passion for students studying game art, game business and publishing, game design, game production management, game programming, and game sound design. You will support students as they move in the direction of their aspirations and become practitioners and thriving creators. This role will be part of a team of career coaches and career administrators who will strive to achieve the objectives outlined in the Re/volutionary 2030 Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive career development and management to students and alumni
Advise on career collateral materials, e.g. resumes, cover letters, career marketing plans, social media profiles, and game portfolios
Teach students how to perform effective job searching and networking
Administer career-related assessment instruments to ascertain interests, motivators, and skills for career success and satisfaction
Conduct mock interviews
Devise plans and execute on marketing and promoting Champlain students and career programs/events in local, regional, national, and international markets
Leverage existing career management platforms, social media,and new technologies
Maintain an efficient and accurate record-keeping system of employer relations efforts
Work closely with external partners (employers, recruiters, alumni, parents) to support expanded career opportunities for students
Actively collaborate with campus partners to cultivate new and existing relationships
Solicit, compile, and share data concerning career outcomes for every graduating class in each program that comply with national and international standards of career outcomes reporting
In collaboration with the AVP assist in drafting annual reports, employment reports, alumni surveys, and other career-related information used for College reporting, benchmarking reporting, and career success reporting based on protocols outlined by national and international standards
Support the programs and activities in the CareerCollaborative
Serve as an information resource for prospective students, parents, employers and community partners, and Champlain faculty and staff
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of work experience are required. Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred
Demonstrated experience working in career coaching
Proven skills in external outreach to employers, business partners, and community members
Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with diverse populations
Experience with career-related software systems (Handshake, Blackbaud, CareerShift, and others) preferred
