Overview The Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University is accepting applications for a full-time Career Specialist. Applications are being taken immediately and the position is available November 2023. The Career Specialist is responsible for working directly with students and faculty to provide individual and group career development services for Huntsman School students. This position will report to the Associate Director of the FJ Management Center for Student Success. The individual will assist in the creation, implementation, execution, and evaluation of a comprehensive career development program, and must demonstrate world-class customer service. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities The Career Specialist is responsible for a wide range of career development activities, including but not limited to, the following:
Counseling and advising individual students on career exploration, to include internship and job search.
Reviewing and advising students on job search materials including resumes, cover letters, CVs, and social media.
Creating and presenting informational and hands-on workshops and programs to student groups, classes, and events on career related topics.
Collaborating with faculty and staff to identify top students for career opportunities, and organizing and monitoring the alignment of opportunities with student interests.
Collaborating with the Huntsman School employer relations team to maintain up to date knowledge of employers and employer/industry trends.
Working closely with department clubs and centers, supporting students’ career development and networking opportunities
Maintaining up to date knowledge of career, labor market, and job search trends.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
5 years of progressively responsible experience in career development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree.
Experience working with students in a higher education setting.
Experience working with Business-related majors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Interest in and experience working with students in a higher education setting.
Outstanding communication skills (interpersonal, written, and verbal) and the ability to create and facilitate career-related presentations to college students.
Ability to function with a high degree of independence yet interact collaboratively with colleagues in a centralized framework.
Understanding of the university environment and academic mission.
