The Career Development Center seeks a transformational Executive Director to provide a clear vision and implementation strategy to support positive career outcomes for health sciences students. This work will align with the University's Strategic Priorities for Student Success and Experience. The Executive Director will focus on employer outreach and student career outcomes as they lead employer relations and liaise for University career-related activities. The Executive Director will build robust industry relationships within the healthcare and life science employer community to understand their needs for job placements and internships. This role reports to the Associate Provost for Student Achievement and Success, with a dotted line to the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost.
KEY PRIORITIES

Strategic Planning
Set a University-wide strategy for cultivating and engaging a diversity of employers in career preparation of the student experience that leads to positive career outcomes (jobs, internships, and opportunities).
Use data to drive and inform the enhancements to the Career Development Center.
Partner with Deans, Program Directors, Centers for Excellence Directors, and Institutional Partners to create a cohesive, campus-wide ecosystem for employer and external partnership engagement.
Foster collaboration between the Career Development Center team and the campus community to develop and evaluate policies and processes related to internship development and experiential learning opportunities to creatively embed life science and healthcare employer and alumni connections into credit and noncredit student experiences (i.e., class presentations, research projects, events, student organizations, etc.).
Lead the development of a formal internship program to provide students with stimulating, real-world experiences within the life sciences and healthcare industry settings.
Employer Development and Engagement
Implement policies, procedures, and processes to bolster employers' brand and campus recruitment and engagement strategies.
Grow the number and quality of jobs, internships, and experiential opportunities for students.
Partner with Schools and Departments to create, manage, and distribute a University-wide schedule of career and employer experiential learning events and activities.
Conduct employer site visits, in collaboration with faculty, to assess the viability and quality of placements and internships for MCPHS students.
Attend events and host organizations on campus for employer development and cultivation purposes.
Student Career and Professional Development
Expand and grow the Career Development Team's understanding of the life sciences and healthcare industries and job market trends.
Increase engagement by partnering with faculty and student organization leaders to integrate career and professional development programming into the student experience.
Create a framework and launch strategy to scale career development, provide guidance, and support students navigating the job, internship, and placement search processes.
Work closely with the Center for International Studies (Academic and Immigration Services) to understand opportunities and parameters for experiential learning opportunities for international students.
Assessment and Evaluation
Develop metrics and assessment systems to track, manage, and evaluate experiential learning opportunities and create communication strategies for reporting insights to internal audiences and accreditors.
Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of employer engagement and student development efforts.
Elevate the use and understanding of relevant alumni career pathway data.
Staff and Center Management
Direct the activities of the Career Development Center (staff of 8) to include hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff, setting goals and objectives, and strategic planning.
In collaboration with Marketing and Communications, frame a strategy for sharing success (web, social media, and reporting) with internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee budget requests and the fiscal management of the Center's operating budget.
Direct the administration of career management and recruiting platforms utilized by students.
Contribute to sustaining and enhancing an inclusive working and learning environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree preferred.
More than five years of experience working in career development or other related field with a proven track record of developing and maintaining relationships with key employers and industry leaders.
Experience in higher education and/or healthcare preferred.
Proven ability to build and nurture networks of internal and external relationships and produce tangible results.
Demonstrated results in employer engagement initiatives.
Progressive experience with internship programming.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively on projects with diverse individuals, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and other external partners.
Knowledge of industry and workforce trends that impact the college recruiting landscape.
Ability to solicit, aggregate, and share information and knowledge from employers to benefit the Career Services office and MCPHS.
Ability to travel as needed to on- and off-campus sites.
