The Career Coach for Internships & Applied Learning is a key member of the Office of Career Development & Professional Engagement which is housed in the Office of University Advancement at William & Mary.
The Career Coach for Internships & Applied Learning (Career Coach) reports to the Director of Internships & Applied Learning and is responsible for career advising and programming. The Career Coach provides career coaching services and career development educational programs to students one-on-one and in groups, in person and virtually, with an emphasis on students who have identified their interest in pursuing an internship or applied learning experience.
The successful Career Coach will be a proactive and collaborative member of this dynamic team and a champion for diversity and inclusion as William & Mary builds on its success through our strategic plan, Vision 2026. One of the university’s core values is belonging and the Career Coach will help foster a community that embraces diverse people and perspectives. This position is based in Williamsburg and is expected to work in person in the office on campus.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or a related field, or comparable education and experience.
Experience in career coaching, career development, career advising on a careers team in a college or university setting (typically 1-2 years). Graduate-level internship, practicum, or grad assistantship experience will be considered.
Basic knowledge utilizing PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Demonstrates knowledge in the job field including career development best practices, career readiness competencies, internships, and applied learning (experiential learning) prior work in a career center.
Strong time management and prioritization skills and the ability to maintain multiple projects concurrently
Preferred Requirements
Experience using careers services management platforms or applications, e.g. Symplicity, 12Twenty, College Central Network, etc.
Software knowledge of Symplicity, Google Drive, Excel, Canva.
Prior experience or knowledge of internship and applied learning practices and procedures
Prior work creating, collaborating and delivering programming to students. Strong time management and prioritization skills and the ability to maintain multiple projects concurrently.
