The Assistant Director of Career Development (Career Exploration & Watson College of Education) will organize major career events, integrate career exploration into courses, administer career assessments, and evaluate programs. This position will lead committees, collaborate with academic leaders, disseminate program information, prepare reports, and assist in career events. Additionally, this position will coordinate alumni and employer panels, counsel students, present workshops, develop faculty relationships, and plan the Education Networking & Job Fair.
The UNCW Career Center is a comprehensive career counseling and resource center dedicated to empowering students and alumni as active participants in their own career development. This includes coordination and management of a wide range of programs and services to retain and enhance professional relationships with existing employer partners- local, regional, national and international. Additionally, the Career Center responds to new or expanding employer relationships generated by the Associate Director for Employer Development and further provides career and employment assistance for currently enrolled students and alumni through individual appointments, workshops, career events, programs, services and resources. Constituents include students, alumni, employers, faculty & staff, parents and the general public.
The Career Center encourages students and alumni to: • EXPLORE Explore career interests, work values, skills, and personality using Career Center resources to optimize academic and career planning • EXPERIENCE Develop skills and competencies sought by employers, as outlined in the Skill Seeker, through applied learning opportunities • ENGAGE Engage and network with faculty and other professionals as well as local, state, national, and global employers to meet the needs of an ever-changing modern society • EMBARK Take responsibility for making informed career decisions and developing education and employment plans over the lifespan

Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or related field
Three years of directly related post-graduate related work experience includes positions in a collegiate career center, or a closely related function.
Experience providing leadership within a staff team, and in the development of programs, services, events, and related initiatives
Experience with the application of career development theory and career assessment tools.
Previous experience in University Career Center, Talent Acquisition, or other college-student career and job recruitment
Completion of NACE Career Coaching Intensive, designation as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board of Certified Counselors, or similar equivalency
Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills. Extensive presentation experience with small and large groups of students, parents, faculty, staff, employers, and the general public.
Demonstrated ability to utilize program assessment instruments and electronic career and employment systems.
Ability to work independently and creatively develop programs, solve problems, resolve differences, and contribute effectively to the Career Center team.
Experience in collaborative efforts with faculty members, other academic and student affairs departments, employers, and other external groups to inform, support and promote relevant career services and programs.
